Cacao Recipe to Replace Caffeine

Increase your productivity by replacing the nervous energy of caffeine with theobromine! Here is a recipe to start your day off right with cacao.

To prepare your morning cacao, simply blend 10 grams of ceremonial cacao with very hot water for 10-20 seconds. Use 12 ounces of water for a thicker cup or use 20 ounces to make it lighter. Generally, a ratio of 1 gram of cacao to 1 oz of water works well for a coffee replacement.

Naturally, cacao is unsweetened. So, you may prefer to flavor your drink. Traditionally, the Maya add chili pepper. Some people like to use vanilla or cinammon. I do not recommend adding sugar. But, if you want to sweeten your cacao try stevia, honey or maple syrup.

Be aware that the caffeine content of cacao varies widely. So, try Keith's Cacao if you want to avoid caffeine as it has the lowest known caffeine content of any cacao on the market. Ora's Connected Colombia Cacao is also a very good choice. Most find Keith's Cacao and Ora's Connected Colombia Cacao to have a very low, to no-caffeine feel.
